Hospice Care's "Light Up A Life" series of tree lighting ceremonies has been a success in raising much-needed funds for hospice and palliative care patients. This past week, WBOY12 TV covered our ceremony at Fairmont General Hospital that wrapped up the series:
Hospice Care Corporation is giving people a chance to celebrate their loved ones' memory this holiday season.
It hosted its annual "Light Up A Life" tree lighting ceremony at Fairmont General Hospital on Friday.
People hung specially made ornaments on the tree to represent a friend or relative who has died.
Hospice Care said the public display of affection helps people cope with their loss.
"The holidays are a very difficult time for coping," said Grief and Loss Counselor Leela Honaker. "Traditions have to change and everything is different so it's very hard. The support network and things like that are very important to have."
The tree will stay up in Fairmont General's main lobby through the end of the month.
We'd like to thank our outstanding community throughout West Virginia for their continuing support. We couldn't do it without you!
